Women Soccer
On Saturday evening, Sporting CT Women won the UWS (United Women’s Soccer) Eastern Conference, beating Coppermine United from Maryland 4-2 and sending them to the UWS Final Four in Santa Clarita, CA this weekend. While the league covers part of the travel cost, the team still needs some help getting there.
All summer, the Sporting CT Women’s players have shown up to training at 7:00 am 3x a week, did their college workouts, worked summer jobs, managed their workloads and stress and put in class performances every weekend. All the players have Connecticut ties, whether they grew up here or play college here. Some of the schools represented are Penn State, UCONN, Seton Hall, Fairfield, Central, Hartford, Marist, Springfield and many more.
This is the team’s first year in the top tier of UWS and many other more established clubs have a bigger budget and/or bigger sponsors. Despite that, the team exceeded expectations in its first season, placing second in the league, winning two playoff games and would love nothing more than to bring home a championship trophy to Connecticut.
The special thing about this group is how much they love soccer and love playing together. They have contributed to building their own environment that is competitive and professional and at the same time FUN.
All donations, big or small will help make this trip possible. This will help cover airfare, vans, food and snacks for the trip. Just the necessities.
GOOD LUCK IN THE FINAL 4!!!
